Eight free printable apple sheets โ a single apple, a smiling one, a basket, slices and a core, an apple tree and a full orchard scene โ drawn with clean black outlines that survive a home printer. Print them on letter or A4, and scroll past the sheets for what actually matters: which paper holds up to markers, why a plain round apple is the perfect first coloring page, and the small fact that stops a child colouring every apple red.

Apples are simple round shapes, which makes most of these sheets forgiving to print โ but the orchard and tree sheets have fine foliage that needs the right settings. Three fixes.
Standard 20lb copy paper bleeds through with water-based markers and buckles when wet. 65lb cardstock costs a few cents more per sheet and holds marker, gel pen and light watercolour without ghosting onto the table beneath.
Greyscale renders the outlines as soft grey and burns colour ink on a page with no colour in it. Choose black-and-white or "black ink only" โ crisper lines, and your colour cartridge lasts far longer.
One round apple with a leaf is about four enclosed areas โ genuinely one of the best first coloring pages there is. If you are printing for a very young child, start there rather than the orchard, and keep scaling on "fit to page" so the shape stays big.
Age ranges on coloring sheets are mostly guesswork. What actually predicts whether a child enjoys a page is the size of the enclosed white areas and how many there are โ and apples run cleanly from a single round shape to a detailed orchard.
A single apple, two apples, or a smiling cartoon apple: three or four big areas. Toddlers are still learning to stay inside a line, and a round apple is about as forgiving as a shape gets โ a clear target with a bold outline.
A basket of apples, an apple with a friendly worm, or a whole-and-sliced arrangement showing the pips. Enough separate regions to make colour choices interesting โ and the sliced apple quietly teaches what the inside looks like.
The apple tree full of individual leaves and the orchard scene with ladders and rows of trees. Older children and adults treat these like adult coloring books โ absorbing, repetitive foliage work that is calming precisely because it takes a while.
If you are printing for a group with mixed ages, print a range rather than one design at several sizes. Children compare pages, and a younger child handed a visibly simpler sheet notices. A different subject at a different difficulty avoids that entirely.
Almost every child reaches for the red crayon on an apple, colours it, and stops. It is the single most predictable thing on this whole page โ and the easiest to gently open up, because it is simply not true that apples are red.
Two prompts turn a red fill into a longer, more curious session:
If a child insists on a blue apple, let them. The point of naming varieties is to widen the choice, not to grade it.

Yes โ print as many copies as you need for a class, camp, library session or party. What is not permitted is reselling the sheets themselves, or bundling them into a product you charge for.
The sheets are square, so they print cleanly on both US Letter and A4 as long as you set scaling to fit-to-page rather than 100%. On A4 you get slightly wider side margins, which is normal.
